Wingo Has Strange But Productive Night for Ogden

In this case the numbers don't tell the whole story

Scott Wingo had an interesting night last night for the Ogden Raptors. Technically he went 0-for-0, but that would be a misleading indicator of hid contributions to the Raptors’ 8-5 win over visiting Helena.

Batting out of the leadoff spot, Wingo walked four times and scored two runs. He also drove in a run with a sacrifice fly. Wingo’s batting average is now .246, impressive considering his slow start. What’s truly impressive however, is Wingo’s on-base percentage (OBP), which is an amazing .458. An OBP above .400 is considered excellent. As a means of comparison, the highest OBP in the major leagues as of this morning is .456 by the Blue Jays’ Jose Bautista.

Wingo will try to improve his numbers tonight when Ogden hosts Helena again, The game be heard here starting at 9 p.m. local time.
