Goodson Wins Run-Off for Seat 6, Eichor Wins Simpsonville Mayoral Race
All incumbents lose.

Larry Goodson Won the run-off election today for Mauldin City Council Seat 6. Goodson defeating incumbent Michael Reynolds, 597 votes (or 62 percent) to 362 votes. Goodson and Reynolds were sent to the run-off when Goodson won 48.6 percent of the vote on November 8.
Goodson joins Scott Crosby, who won Seat 4 and Dennis Raines, who won the mayoral race, as new members of the city council. Bob Cook ran unopposed for Seat 2 and was declared the winner in October.
In Simpsonville, Perry Eichor handily defeated Tammy Bagwell in the race for mayor, 907 votes (or 65 percent) to 490 votes.

In all, incumbents lost all of the contested seats in Mauldin. Reynolds said an anti-incumbency sentiment played a role in his defeat, but so did late-stage negative campaigning. He congratulated Goodson on his victory and added, "I'm confident that once he's in office, Mr. Goodson will find the city to be in better condition than he thought."
Goodson did not respond to an interview request from Patch.

The race will be certified at 1 p.m. Wednesday by Greenville County. There were four contested votes, which will not have an impact on the winners, but will affect the final totals.
