Woman Robbed at Gunpoint Outside Her Home

Suspect apprehended a short distance away.

The following information was provided by Mauldin Police. It does not indicate a conviction:

A Mauldin woman was robbed at gunpoint outside her home on Sunday evening.

The crime took place on a cul-de-sac within The Grove development. According to Mauldin Police, 18 year-old Kadeem Swindler waited at the end of a driveway near the victim’s residence. When the victim was walking to her home, Swindler allegedly approached the woman, put a pistol to her head and demanded she hand over her purse. The purse contained two checkbooks, cash, passports, bank cards and other miscellaneous items. According to the victim, Swindler then returned to his vehicle and sped away.

While Mauldin Police were speaking to the victim, a suspect matching the description the victim had provided was identified at at 308 W. Butler Road.

The Greenville County Sheriff’s had a report of a similar incident earlier in the day that involved a vehicle similar to the one Swindler was allegedly driving. Police arrived at KFC shortly thereafter and apprehended Swindler. The victim was driven to KFC and positively identified Swindler as the person who robbed her. Swindler has been charged with the following:

  • Possession of gun/knife during commission of a violent crime.
  • Armed robbery.
  • Unlawful possession of a weapon.

During questioning, Swindler admitted to being at the crime scene but claimed another person committed the crime. He is being held at the Greenville County Detention Center.
