Woman Set on Fire on West Georgia Road

Suspect, an acquaintance, is in custody, charged with attempted murder.

Greenville County Sheriff’s responded to a call at 3361 West Georgia Road at approximately 3:30 a.m. this morning and found a woman being treated for severe burns by EMS personnel.

Officers were called to the scene by a neighbor who heard screams in his backyard and called 911. The police along with the South Greenville Fire Department responded. Deputies determined that the victim lives at 3358 West Georgia Road. She was taken to Greenville Memorial Hospital and then to a burn center for treatment of burns throughout her body.

Police found evidence of a burglary and believe the assault began in the home. While on the scene, police received a call from a Hot Spot ion Princeton by the suspect, Harold Watts. Deputies arrived at the Hot Spot and put Watts under arrest.

Watts has been charged with Attempted Murder and Burglary 1st Degree. Watts is currently being held in the Greenville County Detention Center. Deputies believe he and the victim were acquaintances.
