Yum! Buttercream Bakehouse Hosts Business After Hours
A sweet new addition to the Mauldin business community
On Tuesday evening the new pastry shop Buttercream Bakehouse hosted a Mauldin Chamber of Commerce-sponsored Business After Hours event as a way of being introduced to the community.
Buttercream Bakehouse has been open since May and is a classic example of turning a passion into a profession. Its owner Karrie Daze accompanied husband Glen around Europe while he was serving in the United States Air Force for more than a decade. Along their many stops, Karrie couldn’t help but notice the prevalence of pastry shops and how they differed from those in this country.
As one might expect from the business name, Daze specializes in butter cream-based confections, a style that was inspired by her time in Europe. In fact, much of the business draws its influence from “The Continent.” The open concept allows customers to watch their treats as they’re being created.

“We wanted to bring a flavor of Europe to the store,” Karrie said.
Karrie made the decision to start her own business after faring well in regional contests. Customers are welcome any time of course, but if you stop by on a Friday you might catch her while she’s creating a wedding cake.
