1. $2.7B deal could revive failed S.C. nuclear project (wtoc.com) — Moncks Corner–based utility Santee Cooper is considering a $2.7 billion offer from Brookfield Asset Management to revive South Carolina’s long-stalled V.C. Summer nuclear project, which could erase much of the utility’s nuclear-related debt. The proposal would give Brookfield most of the power from the completed reactors, while Santee Cooper customers—who’ve paid since 2017—might finally see value if negotiations succeed over the next two years.

Moncks Corner native to graduate as SC State University's first mechatronics engineering student (counton2.com) — A Moncks Corner native, 23-year-old Omar Shaheed III, is making history as South Carolina State University’s first graduate in mechatronics engineering. After leaving Berkeley High School in 2020, he helped pioneer the new program and will now enter Boeing’s elite engineering rotation in North Charleston, showcasing a high-tech career path for local students.

Berkeley County Business Lifts Family After Tragedy (berkeleyobserver.com) — Moncks Corner-based Farm Bureau Insurance agents have donated $1,250 to help the family of Thomas Crawford, a local community member who died after a severe farming accident. The gift, part of the statewide Farm Bureau Cares holiday program, will help with medical expenses and support his wife and children, while reminding them that neighbors across Berkeley County stand behind them.

Berkeley County obituaries for Nov. 26-Dec. 2 (postandcourier.com) — Moncks Corner and Berkeley County families are remembering several neighbors this week, with brief obituary notices listing local residents and their funeral homes.
