ArtsFest Set for This Weekend

Come support the arts in Mount Pleasant during the 16th Annual ArtFest at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre on Saturday, March 10, from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

“ArtFest, the Blessing of the Fleet, Children's Day Festival, the Christmas Parade and other Town-sponsored events are essential components to a well-balanced, progressive, healthy, and friendly town," said Nicole Harvey, special events planner for the Town of Mount Pleasant. “We have found in Towne Centre a perfect corporate partner to help us showcase local artists and bring the arts to Mount Pleasant."

As in years past, TV sponsor WCBD Channel 2 will emcee the event opening at the Grand Stage. Megan from Y102.5 will be on stage from 12 – 2 pm.

The Mount Pleasant Artists Guild will display a wide variety of paintings and ribbons will be awarded for First, Second and Third Places as well as Honorable Mention. Be sure to stop by and cast your vote for the People’s Choice Award.

The Children’s Craft Village will include face painting, caricature drawings, sparkle tattoos, sidewalk chalk, hula hoops, Sweetgrass basketry, balloon art, a jump castle, and a slide. Pet Helpers will host a Paw-Casso painting craft for families and their pets. Craft activities will be offered by the SCRAP Exchange, ART BUZZ Kids, Creative Spark, Beaded Venus, SC Aquarium, and Robin Mann Art.

Roving artists will include Sam the Magic Man, Jugglestuff and No Sleeve Magic. Barnes & Noble will offer Story Time at 11 a.m. in the children’s section in store. The Mount Pleasant Police and Fire Departments will offer special exhibits.

The American Train Company will be open for rides on Saturday! The train starts at Noon. Hop on in front of Barnes & Noble. The cost to ride is $4 per person. Pick up a $1 OFF coupon at the Information Desk in the Children’s Craft Village.
