Kerrigan and Harrison-Caldwell Tabbed as Scholar All-Region Selections (uchicago.edu) — A standout women’s soccer player from Mount Pleasant, Mary Stuart Kerrigan, has capped her senior year at the University of Chicago with major academic and athletic honors, including Scholar All-Region recognition. Alongside teammate Lucy Harrison-Caldwell, she helped lead the Maroons to a 16-2-4 season and a dramatic Final Four run decided by a marathon penalty shootout.
   

2. A Mount Pleasant barbershop offered free haircuts — and the community paid it forward (postandcourier.com) — A longtime Mount Pleasant barbershop at Seaside Farms has turned simple haircuts into a powerful show of community, funding free trims for federal workers during a 43-day shutdown and donating leftover money to a local food nonprofit. Regulars say they come as much for the camaraderie as the cuts, with generations of residents sharing stories, laughs, and even post-haircut ice cream.
   

3. SC health studios that combined hot and cold therapies shuts down (postandcourier.com) — A health and wellness studio at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre has closed after its parent company, Mindzero, filed for bankruptcy, also shutting its Myrtle Beach site. Managers say they’re working on a plan to reopen both locations under new ownership with minimal disruption for members.
   

4. Seacoast Church replaces trash bags with Journey Bags' for children entering foster care (abcnews4.com) — A Mount Pleasant campus of Seacoast Church is leading a Journey Bags drive to replace trash bags with filled backpacks and duffels for children entering foster care across the Lowcountry. With Charleston County among the state’s highest-need areas, residents can pick up tags, shop for suggested items with their kids, and return donations to any Seacoast location through January 4.
