Blotter: Armed Robbery, Teen Beer Party, Pizza Discrimination, Cougar Love

Police calls range from dangerous to silly.

These items were selected from several hundred Mount Pleasant Police Reports filed over the last few weeks of February. All charges are pending and accused parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.

Man Robs Hwy. 41 Convenience Store

Police are searching for a man who held up a Hwy. 41 gas station with a pump shotgun.

It happened just before 3 a.m. on Feb. 16 at the Kangaroo gas station, according to a police report. The store's clerk said the man stormed into the store and began yelling.

The suspect pumped the shotgun and demanded cash. The suspect was described as a black male, possibly in his mid 20s. He wore a black ski mask and had large lips that protruded from the mask's opening.

The store clerk recalled that the suspect wore a gold class ring, possibly on his right hand, and that the ring had a yellow stone, possibly with a "W" or "H" monogram.

He wore a long-sleeve black shirt and had blue jeans with yellow embroidery on the pockets, according to the report. He only got away with $65.

Teen Cited for House Party

Mount Pleasant police charged two people with throwing a party where underaged individuals were allowed to consume alcohol, according to a police report.

More than 11 suspects were rounded up and sent home in the care of their parents. Only one person at the house party was over 21 years old, according to the report.

The Merion Place party was hosted by a 19-year-old. She, along with an unidentified relative, were cited for throwing the Feb. 22 shindig.

Mom Complains about Discrimination

The mother of a child with autism complained to police that an employee of a Coleman Blvd. pizza parlor was very rude to her and her child when an item was broken at their table.

The mother said the restaurant's manager accused her child of breaking something "every time" they dine at the restaurant, according to the report.

The mother apologized, she said, but her child has autism, which sometimes impacts his ability to control his mood and temper. The explanation fell on deaf ears, and the mother filed a report with police.

Since there was technically no crime committed, police just detailed the incident for their records.

Daughter Reports Mother for Sex with Teenage Friend

A Wando High School student summoned police and the guidance counselor after she learned that her mother had sexual intercourse with one of her 17-year-old friends.

The mother confessed to the incident after her daughter confronted her, according to the report.

Police verified the male student's age, and since he's 17, there were no criminal charges against the mother, according to the report.

Soccer Ball Incident Results in Assault and Battery Charges

A Moultrie Middle School student has been charged with third-degree assault and battery after a schoolyard incident resulted in another juvenile's hand being broken.

The suspect says they were simply playing soccer and that an errant kick caused a soccer ball to strike the alleged victim's hand very hard, according to a police report.

The victim's mother says the suspect is a bully and has been terrorizing her son for months, according to the report. She claims the suspect moved the ball quickly just as another juvenile was kicking it, causing the other boy's foot to make contact with the her son's hand.

The incident required the victim's hand to be placed in a cast, according to the report. The suspect faces criminal charges for the incident.
