Charleston-Area Fourth of July Events
Best picks for a good time this Fourth of July.

Fourth of July is on a Thursday this year, and there are plenty of fun (and free) ways to enjoy the country's birth all over the Charleston area.
Here are some awesome choices that won't disappoint.Â
North Charleston Fireworks
The City of North Charleston is aiming to put on the Lowcountry's biggest (and free-est) fireworks show this July 4th. Held at Riverfront Park (1001 Everglades Dr., North Charleston), the festivities start at 3 p.m. and include tons of music and food. Fireworks start at 9:15 p.m. and wrap at 9:45 p.m.
Patriots Point Fireworks Event
This one isn't technically free, but when you combine an aircraft carrier, the Cooper River and the Ravenel Bridge, you really can't go wrong. For the second year, Patriots Point is selling tickets to view its fireworks show from the deck of the USS Yorktown. Tickets are $20, but Patriots Point is giving away quite a few.   You cannot watch the show from the Ravenel Bridge. It's closed to foot traffic during this time.
Mount Pleasant Uncle Sam Jam
Enjoy live music, adult beverages and snacks on the pier at Mount Pleasant Memorial Waterfront Park. The event starts at 7 p.m. and offers an excellent view of the Patriots Point fireworks. Tickets are $10, but only 800 are sold in advance. Here are all the details.
Folly Beach Fireworks
One of America's great beach cities is offering up a classic fireworks show from a comfy spot on the sand. Head towards the Tides Hotel around 8 p.m. to catch the Folly Beach fireworks display.
Isle of Palms Fireworks
Station yourself at Front Beach after dark for the Isle of Palms fireworks show.Â
Neighborhood Fireworks at Pitt Street Bridge
This is an informal show put on yearly by neighbors at the Pitt Street Bridge in Mount Pleasant. Bring your own fireworks to insure there's a great display to be enjoyed by everyone. Fireworks start after dark, or whenever folks feel like pulling out their lighters.Â
Not quite July 4th, but still fun...
RiverDogs Baseball
Head to Joseph P. Riley Jr. Park on July 2nd and 3rd to watch the RiverDogs. Fireworks take place at the end of the game.
Daniel Island Palooza in the ParkÂ
The festival runs from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. at Etiwan Park followed by our Annual Community Patriotic Parade at 5 p.m. sharp. The parade will begin at Etiwan Park and end at Children's Park where the festivities will continue from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m. for patriotic concerts, fireworks and more.
Freedom Rocks at Boone Hall
Enjoy Eddie Money and southern rockers Georgia Satellites during Freedom Rocks on the grounds at Boone Hall Plantation. The event starts at 6 p.m. More info.
