The long-time eyesore on Hwy. 17 at Mount Pleasant Towne Centre is no more. Crews recently demolished the dilapidated and abandoned church that once sat atop a prized piece of real estate just south of the Isle of Palms Connector.
Town records indicate the chunk of land will house a new Verizon retail store. The cell phone giant operates three retail locations in Mount Pleasant, including a storefront on Market Center Blvd. near Lowe's in Towne Centre.
Unlike other stores in Towne Centre, this lot has connectivity directly to Hwy. 17, so patrons won't have to enter the retail complex to access the store's parking lot.
