Dozens of Minors Charged at McClellanville Party

More than 50 people are facing criminal charges following a noise complaint about a party in McClellanville.
The Charleston County Sheriff's Office broke up a party at 434 Mercantile Road on Saturday, Feb. 9 after receiving noise complaints from the area. Officers found dozens of teens allegedly drinking beer and liquor around a bonfire and inside a home at the address around 9 p.m. that evening, according to a Sheriff's Office report.
Deputies issued citations for minor in possession of beer or alcohol to 50 teens reanging in age from 15 to 19. Deputies also charged the home owner, 49-year-old Eleanor McDowell Richards with contributing to the deliquency of a minor, according to the report. Richards, who is the mother of one of the teens charged with possession of alcohol, was present during the party, according to the report.

Of the teens charged with possession of beer or alcohol, 43 live in Mount Pleasant, two are from North Charleston, one is from Summerville, one is from West Ashley, one is from Hugger and one is from Awendaw. No address information was available for the youngest teen charged, a 15-year-old.
