Farmers' Market Returns Tuesday

Town-sponsored market a huge draw from April to October.

The much awaited opening of the 2012 season of the Mount Pleasant Farmers Market is upon us! The market will kick off the new season at 3:30 p.m. Tuesday Admission and parking are free.

The market is held in the pavilion at the corner of Coleman Blvd. and Simmons Street on the campus of Moultrie Middle School.

"Plan to spend a couple of hours exploring the market’s treasure trove of fruits, vegetables, flowers, preserves, dips, breads, pies, and other treats,” said Farmers' Market Manager Tracy Richter.

The market is known for its fresh, locally grown produce. This family-friendly event has become a gathering place for locals and has inspired the market’s catchy logo “Get Fresh with the Locals!” At the heart of the market are two large pavilions housing farmers and food vendors, an open-air plaza, plenty of green space, magnificent live oaks, and seating areas.

This year’s farmers are Ambrose Family Farm, Blue Pearl Farm, Fields Farm, Fields/Pinckney Farm, Fili-West Farms, Freeman Farms, Freeman Produce Market, Hickory Bluff Nursery & Berry Farm, HLG Growers South Carolina, J. Mac Produce, LLC, Joseph Fields Farm, Kennerty Farms, Maple Ridge Farm, Moss Hill Farms, Nellie's Farm, Owl's Nest Plantation, Sea Island Savory Herbs, Shuler Peach Co., Simmons Farm, and Wabi Sabi Farm.

Food vendors will include Charleston Bay Gourmet, Charleston Crepe Company, Charleston Festival Foods, Charleston Lowcountry Tea, Charleston Spice Company, Dale's Lowcountry Cuisine, Falling Waters Jams, Great Foods Co-op, Great Harvest Bread Company, Green Wave Smoothies, Hot Diggitty, King of Pops, Mike's Hot Boiled Peanuts, Mount Pleasant Seafood, Fresh Pickle Works, Rio Bertolini's Fresh Pasta, Rococo German Bakery, Southern Comfort BBQ Sauce, T&T Kettle Korn and Zeus Grill & Seafood.
