FBI Investigates Local Home
Police, fire, federal agents close neighborhood in search for explosives.

Few details are known about a daylong investigation Thursday that closed the Mount Pleasant townhome community Beaumont.
Mount Pleasant police, firefighters and apparently the FBI were involved in a search for explosive devices or bomb-making materials, neighbors say, but police nor the FBI will provide details.
Neighbors were evacuated from the Monaco Drive community early Thursday morning, and the community remained closed until 4:30 p.m., according to reports. Investigators were focusing on one half of a duplex in the complex.

Neighbors told reporters that law enforcement said the evacuation was due to reports of explosive, bomb-making materials. A suspect was detained, they said, but Charleston County court records show no arrests on Thursday for charges that appeared related to such an investigation.
