Seventh Arrest for Man Without License

A 24-year-old man was arrested for driving without a license after causing a car accident at Bowman Road and Hospital Drive.

It's a pretty routine arrest for Mount Pleasant police, but Terrell J. Slater's arrest record made the charge unique. He's been arrested six times over the last five years for driving without a license.

His license was originally suspended for being a habitually drunk driver, according to the police report. Booked into the jail on these most recent charges, Slater was granted a $2,000 bond and released.

Man Dreams Up Sex Assault Report

A Mount Pleasant man is facing false-report charges after admitting that a story about his girlfriend breaking into his second-story apartment and sexually assaulting him was more dream than reality.

The 23-year-old man told police his ex girlfriend threw sticks at his window and then climbed a ladder and snuck into his bedroom. Once inside, the man said the woman performed a sex act on him.

But when police questioned the girlfriend, she said the man was actually calling her repeatedly during the time period of the alleged assault. She showed police roughly 35 missed calls from the man.

Confronted with the girlfriend's statement, the man said he was exhausted and that the assault was a "dream" and that he thought up the assault as a way to get back at the woman, the report states.
