Five Things You Need to Know this Week

Council meets, coyotes spotted, National Night Out.

1. Council meets

Mount Pleasant Town Council meets Monday to in its regular slate of committee meetings. Sessions start at 8:30 a.m. and run until 2 p.m. See the agenda.

2. Coyotes spotted

Sullivan's Island authorities are warning residents about coyotes spotted on the island. Read more.

3. Dos return to county parks

Two sets of dog-friendly events are set to return to Charleston County Parks this month. Pups, Yups, and Food Trucks will be held at Palmetto Islands Park in Mount Pleasant on August 15, September 12 and October 17. Read more.Yappy Hour at James Island County Park will feature drinks and live music on August 22. Read more.

4. National Night Out

Target in Mount Pleasant will hold National Night Out from 6 p.m. to 8 p.m. Tuesday, Aug. 6, in the Target Parking Lot at Seaside Farms. The event is a national effort to reduce crime. More than 10,000 communities will participate. Read more about National Night Out in Mount Pleasant.

5. American Idol Live
