Flash Flooding Warning Issued for Mount Pleasant
Heavy rain expected until 4:45 p.m. today.

The National Weather Service in Charleston has issued a flash flooding warning for parts of the Lowcountry, including Mount Pleasant, Isle of Palms and parts of downtown Charleston.Â
Here's the warning:
BETWEEN 2 AND 3 INCHES OF RAIN HAS FALLEN IN SOME AREAS SINCE EARLY AFTERNOON. AN ADDITIONAL 1 TO 2 INCHES COULD FALL THROUGH 445 PM. FLASH FLOODING IS ALREADY OCCURRING IN PARTS OF MOUNT PLEASANT AND DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON. THE RISK FOR ADDITIONAL FLASH FLOODING REMAINS HIGH THROUGHOUT THE WARNED AREA.
FLASH FLOODING IS EXPECTED IN AND AROUND... DOWNTOWN CHARLESTON...WEST ASHLEY...DANIEL ISLAND...MOUNT PLEASANT...JAMES ISLAND...JOHNS ISLAND...SULLIVANS ISLAND...
The chance for flooding is apparently greatest in the area of the Isle of Palms Connector. The National Weather Service advises against driving on roads that flooded. Drowning is the No. 1 weather-related cause of death in the United States.Â
