
A former Mount Pleasant bank teller pleaded guilty this week to stealing more than $700,000 from a Bank of America branch over a 15-year period.
Michele Gentry, 59, admitted to the crimes in U.S. District Court on Monday, according to reports. She faces up to 33 years in prison and $1 million in fines. The judge has not yet scheduled sentencing.
Authorities allege Gentry swiped $500 to $1,000 from each day's till from 1996 to 2011. She covered the thefts with fraudulent ledger entries.

The thefts went on, unnoticed, until a branch mangaer uncovered the scheme while Gentry was away from work on a sick day.
