Man Arrested After Threatening President in 911 Call

A Johns Island man faces felony charges after he called Charleston County 911 threatening to shoot President Barack Obama.

Kevin Daryl Salvo faces a single count of improper use of 911 for calling authorities twice early Wednesday morning with threats against the President and disparaging remarks against Democrats, according to a sheriff's incident report.

Salvo, 51, is not charged for the threats, according to Maj. Jim Brady, the sheriff's spokesman.

"Charleston County Sheriff's Office arrested Salvo on a charge of improper (or) illegal use of 911 as noted in the report," Brady said in a statement to local media. "He was not arrested for threatening to shoot the President."

In the calls, which came in sometime before 1:30 a.m. Wednesday, Savlo is alleged to have disparaged all Democrats and then made the threats. President Obama gave his victory speech at 1:00 a.m. Wednesday.

"**** all Democrats... The South will rise again," he reportedly told a 911 operator. "I will shoot the President."

Deputies responded to Salvo's Anglers Pond Road and placed him under arrest. He'll appear before a judge in December on the charge. The report also indicates he had been drinking at the time of the arrest.
