Man Arrested in Motel Homicide

Police charge man with overnight stabbing death at Fort Moultrie Motel.

Mount Pleasant police have arrested a man on murder charges following an early Monday morning stabbing at the Fort Moultrie Motel.

Elias James Walker, 22, faces a bond court hearing later today on the single murder charge, according to police spokesman Maj. Stan Gragg.

Police responded to the Stuart Engles Blvd. motel just before 1:30 a.m. Monday, Gragg said. The victim, who has not been named publicly, was in Walker's room when police arrived.

The victim's name has not been released. The Charleston County Coroner is expected to release the victim's name later Monday after positive identification, Gragg said.
