Police investigate suspicious fire at Wando High School

Mount Pleasant police and school administrators at Wando High School are looking into a suspicious fire set in a second floor men's room, according to a police report.

It happened Oct. 10 when a school administrator contacted police about what appeared to be burned paper on top of a toilet paper dispenser.

Police reviewed surveillance video and spotted one student who was in the restroom at the time of the fire, but that students said he was only using the restroom and had no involvement with the fire.

The student gave inconsistent statements about the incident, but police could not determine who set the fire. The case was closed, but the student's parent was contacted by police.

Vehicle break-in spree after Wando Football game

A dozen victims reported having their vehicles broken into following the Oct. 19 Wando High School football game, according to police reports.

All the vehicles had their windows smashed and many had valuables removed, according to police. The case remains under investigation.
