Outdoor Kitchen Supplier Opens in Mount Pleasant

Mount Pleasant's newest business provides custom grills and outdoor kitchens. The business owners say Palmetto Outdoor Kitchens takes advantage of an untapped, upscale clientele that wants premium outdoor cooking spaces.

"I've had this idea for five years or more," said Ken Good, the business's co-owner. "This is something that nobody is doing in the Charleston market currently."

The shop sells a variety of high-end grills and outdoor appliances. It also designs and can build outdoor cooking spaces.

"We don't carry anything that you could find at the big box stores or local hardware stores," said Scott Hunter, co-owner. "We're a full-service outdoor shop. We do everything from design work to the custom build."

Palmetto Outdoor Kitchens officially opened at a ribbon cutting Thursday afternoon. It's located at 1000 Johnnie Dodd Boulevard in the Publix shopping center.
