Pedestrian Critically Injured in Coleman Blvd. Crash

Mount Pleasant Police are investigating a vehicle-versus-pedestrian crash that has critically injured a woman, according to a preliminary police report.

The crash occurred about 12:30 a.m. Sunday at the Shem Creek Bridge along Coleman Boulevard. When police arrived, they saw Caroline Catherine Walters lying in the road with a group of pedestrians surrounding her.

Witnesses said Jessica B. Cabaniss was driving north along Coleman Boulevard when Walters stepped into the intersection, according to a passenger in the vehicle with Cabaniss. The light was green when the crash occurred, the witness said.

Walters was on Monday listed in critical condition with life-threatening injuries at Medical University Hospital in Charleston. The case remains under investigation, according to a police report.
