Update: Pedestrian Struck on Coleman Blvd.
Morning accident injures one person in front of Moultrie Middle School.

The 13-year-old injured this morning in a pedestrian-vs-vehicle crash in front of Moultrie Middle School was not critically injured, according to police.
Despite being pinned under a large Chevy SUV, the youngster required was treated at MUSC for non-life-threatening injuries, said police spokesman Maj. Stan Gragg.
There are crosswalks in front of the school, but the teen did not utilize their help at the time of the crash, Gragg said.

The driver of the vehicle, a 17-year-old, was not cited, according to reports.
A year ago, a Mount Pleasant man was charged with wreckless driving after striking a Cario Middle School student as she walked to school. That student was crossing at an intersection without a crossing guard.

Police alleged the man was speeding down Park West Boulevard and could not stop in time to avoid the young girl. The town spent $20,000 on upgraded signage and a crossing guard was placed at the intersection.
In October 2012, Caroline Catherine Walters was struck and killed on Coleman Boulevard, a few block from the Moultrie Middle School crash, when she apparently stepped from the curb into oncoming traffic.
