Police Search for Missing Man

UPDATE (3:30 p.m. Thursday): Police re-issue plea for informaton on Ronald C. Fowler Jr. as court records suggest the man had financial troubles.

Mount Pleasant police are asking for the public's help as officers and the U.S. Coast Guard search for a man last seen Monday morning.

A boat belonging to Ronald Clifford Fowler Jr., 36, was found by the Coast Guard floating upside down Tuesday about 16 miles off the coast.

Police say Fowler may have launched the vessel sometime around 11:45 a.m. on Monday, but he hasn't been heard from since, according to information released today by police.

His girlfriend told investigators she left Fowler's Bayview Drive home at 11:45 a.m. and when she returned at 1 p.m., his boat was gone and so was Fowler. The man was expected to navigate from the waterfront home headed for Shem Creek.

Anyone with information about Fowler's whereabouts should contact police at 843-884-4176. Clifford is a white male, about 5 feet 8 inches tall and he weighs about 185 pounds. He has sandy blonde hair and hazel eyes. His boat is a 16-foot skiff.
