RiverDogs Awarded for Home Run Derby
Event on USS Yorktown tops for most creative marketing event.
When the Charleston RiverDogs announced they were hosting the Miller High Life Home Run Derby on the flight deck of the USS Yorktown, the concept of baseball on an aircraft carrier drew national attention. Now the ballclub might have to make room in their trophy case as the awards for the Derby on the Yorktown continue to roll in.
The Miller High Life Home Run Derby was voted on MiLB.com as the Best Promo of 2012. The MiLBY Award presented to the RiverDogs comes after receiving the prestigious Golden Bobblehead Award presented by Minor League Baseball for the best promotion of 2012 the team, as well as the Ballpark Digest Award for the Best Promotion of the year awarded in September.
“We are ecstatic to receive another award for the Miller High Life Home Run Derby on the USS Yorktown,” said RiverDogs General Manager Dave Echols. “It was a unique event that went off flawlessly, and we are pleased that fans of Minor League Baseball thought just as highly of it as everyone involved with the HR Derby here in Charleston did. Certainly it is an event that will not soon be forgotten.”
