Thursday is full of great events and offerings in Mount Pleasant. Here's are our picks. Did we miss something? Add it to the event calendar.

1. Mayoral Announcement

The race for Mayor of Mount Pleasant becomes an official race today when Councilwoman Linda Page announces her candidacy. She plans a 4 p.m. event at her business, Page's Thieves Market on Chuck Dawley Blvd. Former Councilman Joe Bustos has already declared his intentions to run. Read more.

2. Free Wine

Weekly wine tastings are offered at WineStyles in Mount Pleasant Towne Centre. The shop recently relocated from its space near Belk to a shop at the entrance to the Palmetto Grand theater. Tastings are offered Thursday, Friday and Saturday from 5:30 p.m. to 7:30 p.m.

3. Mathis Ferry Road Work Ends

Enjoy a more spacious commute on Mathis Ferry Road today. Crews were on Wednesday scheduled to complete a two-foot widening project between Wingo Way and Bowman Road.

4. Gay Pride Takeover

Head out DIG in the Park at 1049 E Montague Ave., North Charleston, for social associated with the weeklong Gay Pride Festival. The event runs from 6 p.m. to 9 p.m.

5. Golf Cart Safety
