Sailors Cited for Reckless Driving
Police reports: Coast Guard members pop wheelies on bridge; Woman stuck by hypodermic needle; Man arrested after assaulting his brother with a knife

These items were selected from several hundred Mount Pleasant Police Reports filed over the last few weeks of February and early March. All charges are pending and accused parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court.
Coast Guard Sailors Cited For Reckless Driving
Two members of the U.S. Coast Guard were cited for reckless driving by Mount Pleasant police for “popping wheelies” while driving motorcycles across the Ravenel Bridge, according to a police report.

Thomas Wayne Snyder, 21, and Michael Serantino Montaldi, 19, were nearly arrested for their alleged high-speed joy ride across the bridge, the officer wrote in the report. In addition to reckless driving, they were cited for not having the proper paperwork and insurance.
Because the men admitted to the incident and were cooperative, they were simply cited and ordered to appear in municipal court.

The two men, attached to the local Coast Guard group, according to the report, were recording the ride over the bridge with small cameras attached to their helmets and clothing, the report states. Both men turned over the video equipment’s memory cards to police.
Deliveryman Uncovers Jail-Smuggling Attempt
A man who delivers day-old bread to charity groups and jails, uncovered an apparent cell phone-smuggling attempt on a recent delivery.
The Mount Pleasant man dropped two loaves of bread at his daughter’s workplace as he was making other deliveries. When he got home later in the day, he discovered two suspicious devices in the bread.
Police believed the devices were cell phones wrapped in duct tape. Cell phones are highly sought after by jail and prison inmates, and officers suggested in the report that the devices were meant for an inmate.
Man Arrested in Knife Assault
A Massachusetts man was arrested following a knife assault that sent the suspect’s brother to the hospital with serious injuries.
It happened in late February on Alexandra Road when Clayton Baxter Garcia, 34, got into some sort of disturbance with Nathan Garcia.
Police arrived to find Nathan Garcia with a deep knife wound that extended most of the length of his forearm, a police report states.
The family was evasive with police, but most statements indicated the incident was a family dispute that got out of hand. Clayton Garcia was released from jail on a $10,000 cash bond the day after his arrest.
Pool Cleaner Stuck by Hypodermic Needle
A woman cleaning an apartment complex pool reported being stuck by a hypodermic needle recently.
It happened at a complex on Alexandria Drive as the woman was cleaning a pool filter, according to police reports. The woman was removing torn fabric scraps from the filter when she was pricked by something in the filter system’s basket.
She eventually was able to retrieve the sharp item, which was discovered to be a syringe filled with purple liquid.
The woman declined medical treatment, but wanted the incident documented by police.
