Serious Accident on Ravenel Bridge
Police close northbound lanes into town as accident is handled.

UPDATE (1:15 p.m.): The two officers involved in the morning accident on the Ravenel Bridge have been treated and released from the hospital.
UPDATE (11:15 a.m.): The morning accident on the Ravenel Bridge near the I-26 ramp involved a tractor trailer and two Charleston police officers, according to police spokesman Charles Francis
The officers were stopped on the bridge. They were conscious and alert after the accident, Francis said. They have both been transported to MUSC for medical treatment.

Charleston Police have closed the northbound lanes of the Ravenel Bridge this morning as emergency workers handle a "serious" crash, Mount Pleasant police said.

The collission occured around 10 a.m., police said. Early reports indicate there are two injured motorists. The crash is being investigated by Charelston Police.
The southbound side of the bridge remains open, but motorists traveling north into Mount Pleasant from Charleston should take alternate routes.
