Ramp closure from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. Oct. 17 – Oct. 19

Charleston County Government announces the following road work and closures as part of continuing construction on the Johnnie Dodds Boulevard Improvements Project in Mount Pleasant:

  • The road closures will occur from 8 p.m. – 6 a.m. beginning Wednesday night, Oct.17, through Friday morning, Oct. 19.
  • A section of Shelmore Boulevard between Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and just after the intersection of West Frontage Road before the Bi-Lo entrance will be closed.
  • A section of Magrath Darby Boulevard between Johnnie Dodds Boulevard and the Holiday Inn entrance will be closed.
  • The road closures will not occur at the same time and are necessary for the paving of asphalt surface.
  • Signs will direct drivers to a detour.
  • The work is being conducted at night in an effort to reduce impact on drivers.
  • If the weather is poor during Oct.17-19, the closure will continue until the work is completed.

Details for Bowman Road Ramp Closure

  • The entrance ramp onto northbound Johnnie Dodds Boulevard from Bowman Road (next to McDonald’s restaurant) will be closed.
  • The ramp closure will occur from 9 p.m. – 6 a.m. beginning Wednesday night, Oct.17, through Friday morning, Oct. 19.
  • Signs will direct drivers to a detour.
  • The ramp closure is necessary for crews to landscape the median area.
  • The work is being conducted at night in an effort to reduce impact on drivers.
  • If the weather is poor during Oct.17-19, the closure will continue until the work is completed.
