Student Gets Threats for Teacher Firing

Girl whose mother reported teacher for lewd movie faces intimidation after Wednesday dismissal.

The Wando High School student whose mother reported teacher Christopher Poston for showing scenes from a lewd R-rated movie now faces veiled threats social media after the teacher was dismissed.

Poston was reportedly fired on Wednesday after an internal probe into the movie incident. On social networking sites and news comment boards, the young woman is being mentioned by name in some posts with suggestions of retribution.

"Everybody need to roll on the girl who eva snitch on poston yall down??," wrote one student on Twitter.

"No student or parent got him fired," the young woman's father said, who asked that his name not be disclosed. "He got himself fired by his actions."

So far the threats have been general, her mother said, and her parents believe school administrators have the situation under control.

"You tell your kids to do the right thing and to report when they are uncomfortable, and now she's being vilified for it," the mom said. "I'm very, very proud of her. She's a smart, strong Christian kid."

Poston played several minutes of "Jackass Number 2" to a class of students on Feb. 14. The movie depicted an actor placing his sock-covered penis into a cage with a poisonous snake. The "Jackass" series of movies and TV shows are known for lewd and dangerous comedic performances.

When confronted by adminstrators, Poston apparently conceded in a letter that his actions were "inexcusable," according to a Mount Pleasant police report. He had been on paid leave until Wednesday when school officials announced he was no longer employed with the school system.

"She's being taunted and blamed for this man's firing, but she did what she was supposed to," said another parent who asked to not be identified so that his own child wouldn't be included in the threats. "If I would have shown that same video at my workplace, I don't think they would have even waited two weeks. I'd be fired on the spot."
