These items were selected from several hundred Mount Pleasant Police Reports filed recently. All charges are pending and accused parties are presumed innocent until proven guilty in court. If no charges are filed, efforts are made not to disclose the names of victims or suspects.

Mount Pleasant police have investigated a handful of frauds and other financial crimes over the last few weeks revealed as folks begin to file their taxes.

One local restaurant is combing its books now after a former employee received an earnings statement that showed checks totaling $2,000 in income above what the employee actually took home, according to a police report.
The restaurant found six checks written to the employee for nearly five months after he parted ways with the organization. The restaurant's manager suspects a former manager, but no charges have been filed.

Suspected Drunk Driver Flies Off Bike
A man suspected of driving drunk, who had previously been convicted of DUI, sustained serious injuries during a one-vehicle crash last week.
Motorists told police they saw Paul William Pittard III weaving on his moped as he navigated along US 41.
Pittard apparently left the roadway in the moped and nearly regained control of the bike before striking a tree limb, one motorist reported. The man then went airborne and hit a tree.
Police recovered two liquor bottles from the scene and a package store receipt that contained Pittard's name, the report states.
Though he was injured, Mount Pleasant police still issued a sobriety test while the suspect was strapped to a body board in the emergency room.
Runaway Camps at Neighbor's for Spring Break
A Mount Pleasant dad was surprised to learn that someone was staying at his home while his whole family was in Orlando for spring break.
Turns out, the man's children gave a friend a key code to enter the residence while they were away. A petsitter discovered the juvenile in the home and reported it to the homeowner.
The juvenile had a handful of friends in the home where they apparently smoked pot and drank liquor, according to a report.
The juvenile told his or her parents they were in Myrtle Beach for the week. Though the child's mother had forbid such a trip, she didn't call police because she didn't want her child to face criminal runaway charges.
Police did eventually arrest the juvenile, a report states. The youth has a long history of runaway charges, and has a history of drug use, the report states.
