Teacher Resigns in Movie Scandal

Poston drops his appeal to spare family and students, he says.

The embattled Wando High School teacher accused of showing a lewd, R-rated movie to a class of students has ended his appeal of his firing and submitted his resignation.

Christopher Poston admitted he showed scenes from "Jackass Number 2." The movie apparently showed an actor inserting his cloth-covered penis into a cage with a snake.

"My resignation is tendered, in part, to protect my family and the students who have expressed such kind words about me after this event, students that may be harmed by their continued support of me," wrote Poston in his letter.

Poston was terminated by the school board on Feb. 29, but he appealed the decision. He's been on paid administrative leave since Feb. 15. His resignation is effective March 20.

"I have much to be thankful for this great opportunity I had over the last several years to work with and teach the great students of Charleston County," Poston wrote. "I always gave my best effort -' and always made myself available to students in need."
