
Mount Pleasant Police have charged a Mount Pleasant 17-year-old with attempted murder following a Saturday shooting at a birthday party.
A day shy of turning 18 years old, Cortlyn Daquan Brown surrendered to police on Wednesday with his attorney, according to a police statement. He has a bond hearings scheduled for 2 p.m. today.
Brown is accused of shooting and injuring a 16 year old at a house party on Dec. 1, according to reports.

Witnesses told investigators that a fight broke out at the house party in the 2300 block of U.S. Hwy. 17 North and shots were fired in the scuffle.
The victim at first told officers he did not know who shot him, but then later said that he and Brown had a dispute and then wrestled when the suspect pulled the firearm and pointed it with his finger on the trigger, according to the report.

After wrestling over the gun, Brown eventually gained controlled and fired on the victim four times, according to the report. The victim was only struck once in the arm, according the report. His injuries were not life-threatening.
