Walmart Considers Mount Pleasant Expansion
Report: Wando Crossing shuffles storefronts to make way for larger Walmart.

The Walmart at Wando Crossing may be expanding significantly, according to a media report.
The owners of the shopping center have asked Play It Again Sports to move. That leaves an empty stretch of parking lot, the Play It Again storefront and a currently vacant Cato storefront into which Walmart could expand, the Post and Courier reports.
Play it Again is moving to the Fairmount Shopping Center at Johnnie Dodds and Anna Knapp boulevards in the former Sleep King Mattress Store next Danco Furniture.

The Walmart news falls less than a week after Belk's CEO announced plans to significantly expand the Charlotte-based retailer's Mount Pleasant Towne Centre location.
Walmart operates two stores in Mount Pleasant. The Wando Crossing store, while recently renovated, packs groceries, its traditional retail line and a pharmacy into an older-style store footprint.
Unlike the much-newer Walmart Supercenter at the Market at Oakland, the Wando Crossing store does not offer an automotive repair unit.
