“It is always exciting to see the judges’ response to student work and have the students receive the kind of feedback they need to continue to develop their journalistic skills,” said Kim Atchley, MWSC President and HSCC Contest Director.

Entries were judged by Alexander Hicks, Jr., Lee Healy, Lynne Shackleford, Ann Patterson, and Bob Dalton, veteran staff members of the Spartanburg Herald Journal.

The NFPW sponsors the only nationwide communications competition for high school students. The contest is endorsed by the National Association of Secondary School Principals.

Dow Jones announces first-place winners and promotes the competition in its publication distributed to journalism advisers across the nation, giving students and their teachers/advisers local and nationwide recognition.
