Mount Pleasant Waterworks has approved a rate increase, and customers will notice the change starting in July.
For a customer who uses 5,000 gallons of water per month, the rate hike will equal about $4 per month, according to Waterworks. But at the time as the rate increase, Waterworks will discontinue a $3 fee associated with the U.S. 17 widening project.Â
That means most customers will see just a $1 increase on their July bills.
The public utility says the rate increase is necessary to cope with aging infrastructure.
