Woman Arrested for Tax Fraud
Authorities allege Mount Pleasant woman filed fraudulent tax forms.

Phyllis Horry, 55, was arrested this morning by the S.C. Department of Revenue investigators for one count of forgery, according to a department news release.
In 2009, the Mount Pleasant resident filed her income tax return electronically using a fraudulent W2 form, authories allege. Horry did not work for the employer listed and claimed a state tax refund of $617 to which she was not entitled.
Horry could face charges of up to 10 years in prison and/or be fined at the discretion of the court. She is currently awaiting a bond hearing at the Al Cannon Detention Center in Charleston.

This is the latest in a string of more than a dozen tax fraud arrests in the Mount Pleasant and Charleston areas.
