Woman Robbed in Walmart Parking Lot

Reports: Woman reports armed robbery outside Wando Crossing Walmart.

Police are investigating two armed robberies that occurred within hours in Mount Pleasant recently.

The first happened around 11 p.m. on Oct. 19 in the parking lot of the Walmart at Wando Crossing. A woman told police she had been sitting in her Cadillac SUV for 10 to 15 minutes, just 15 spaces from the store's entrance, when two men approached with a shotgun and demanded money.

The woman said she was so overtaken with fear that she froze, unable to comply with their requests or to crank her vehicle and leave. One of the suspects even touched the gun's barrel to the woman's face while making demands for cash.

Neither suspect got any money from this victim, according to an incident report, and they fled toward CiCi's Pizza on the north side of the shopping center.

Approximately four hours later, a store clerk at the Kangaroo gas station on Joe Rouse Road near Hwy. 41 reported an armed robbery.

A suspect entered the store with a shotgun, racked the weapon and told the clerk to stand and place his hands in the air, according to the report. The clerk complied with demands and gave the man roughly $100.

The first victim described the suspects as black men, one taller than the other. The gunman, she said, was wearing a red bandanna over his face, the report states.

The second victim described the robber as a black man in his late 20s, standing 6 feet tall and weighing about 170 pounds. He saw the suspect meet up with a second individual in the parking lot and flee.

The cases remain under investigation.
