Here are the top five stories in Myrtle Beach today:
- The FBI is investigating a bomb threat which was called in targeting a Myrtle Beach drag queen brunch. According to the Myrtle Beach Police Department, officers arrived at Mr. Fish on North Kings Highway on Sunday after reports came in about the threat. The restaurant was evacuated and searched for explosives, but nothing was found. The FBI is now looking for the people responsible for the phony bomb threat. (Subscription: Myrtle Beach Sun News)
- The trial has begun for two men charged in a fatal shooting at Allen's Food Basket back in 2020. Samuel Frye, 23, and Mardave Hunter, 27, have each been charged with two counts of murder. During the shooting, two people were killed and another five injured. Frye has been charged with accessory after the fact of murder as well. (WMBF)
- On Monday night, the North Myrtle Beach City Council tabled β again β a new ordinance restricting the use of bicycles and electric bicycles on the beach. The ordinance has been pushed back for months due to squabbling and conflicting views on the proposed ordinance. The ordinance would ban electric and regular bicycles from the beach from May 15 through Sep. 15. Many people are pushing back on the proposed ordinance, saying electric bicycles should not be included in the ban. (WMBF)
- Hundreds of seniors and homebound people throughout Horry County will have an early Christmas this year. Volunteers and staff members of Meals on Wheels of Horry County are collecting gifts for seniors and people of all ages who are homebound in their Angel Tree Program. Right now, there are nearly 400 seniors who will receive gifts. Meals on Wheels says that this number will at least double before the year ends. - Beloved dessert bar Crazy Mason Milkshake Bar is moving its flagship store. The Myrtle Beach-based business will be relocating to a space next to Coastal Grand Mall. The spot was previously occupied by Sticky Fingers Ribhouse. The new location will be open by March of 2023. At that time, the current spot at Market Common will be permanently closed.
