Renourishment work begins in North Myrtle Beach (wbtw.com) — Beach renourishment crews will reach Myrtle Beach in February as part of a $72 million Army Corps of Engineers project to rebuild eroded dunes along the Grand Strand. Expect temporary beach closures while 2 million cubic yards of sand are pumped ashore to better protect oceanfront infrastructure from future storms and king tides.
   

2. Shooting reported on Pine Island Drive leaves one injured in Myrtle Beach (shorenewsnetwork.com) — A person was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries after a late-morning shooting Saturday on the 1700 block of Pine Island Drive in Myrtle Beach, prompting a heavy police response. Officers are keeping an increased presence in the area and are asking residents to avoid the scene and share any tips with the Myrtle Beach Police Department’s non-emergency line.
   

3. Red Cross aids family after fire damages Myrtle Beach home, provides safety tips (wpde.com) — A Myrtle Beach family is getting emergency help from the Red Cross after a fire damaged their home on Pinner Place Saturday afternoon. With winter fire risks rising, officials are urging residents to review simple holiday safety steps, from checking lights and candles to testing smoke alarms and planning an escape route.
   

4. Soldiers welcomed home at MYR airport after year-long deployment (wpde.com) — Soldiers returning from deployment were greeted with cheers and signs at Myrtle Beach International Airport, thanks to Operation Welcome Home and the Blue Star Mothers of Coastal Carolina. One of the arrivals, Army soldier Brent McCullough, made it back from a year in South Korea just in time to spend the holidays with family and a grateful community.
   

5. Pastor charged with cyberstalking estranged wife for years before her death (ktvu.com) — A Myrtle Beach pastor has been federally indicted on charges that he cyberstalked his estranged wife for more than a year and then lied to investigators, according to prosecutors. The indictment details alleged online harassment, tracking devices, financial interference, and damage to her vehicle before her death in April 2024. If convicted, he faces up to seven years in prison and a substantial fine, with arraignment set for January in Florence federal court.

  • Ive been trying for over a week to get rid of this cat milk, the whole case.
    Unfortunately no one can come here to get it. I find it absurd that no one with colonies, etc. cant come to Socastee to get it! (Nextdoor Palmetto Pointe)
