The guidance stresses safe heating methods, checking on elderly neighbors, and keeping a well-stocked vehicle survival kit so you’re ready if temperatures plunge or travel plans go sideways.
   

• Man arrested for attempting to steal from Adam & Eve in NMB: Warrant (wpde.com) — An attempted robbery was reported at the Adam & Eve adult store in North Myrtle Beach, where a man allegedly gathered merchandise and told the clerk he planned to rob her before fleeing on foot. Police later arrested a 37-year-old North Carolina resident, who reportedly admitted he intended to commit the robbery but changed his mind. No injuries were reported, and he remains jailed on bond.
   

• Firefighters extinguish house fire - North Myrtle Beach Times (nmbtimes.com) — Fire crews quickly knocked down a house fire in the Cherry Grove section, with North Myrtle Beach Rescue Squad and North Myrtle Beach Police assisting and no injuries reported. The blaze, in a raised beach house on 21st Avenue North, was contained within about 90 minutes thanks to a coordinated interior attack and ventilation work.
