• Beaufort man sent to prison for rape of 13-year-old (wtoc.com) — A Beaufort man has been sentenced to 15 years in prison after admitting to sexually assaulting a 13-year-old runaway at a Port Royal motel on Ribaut Road. Port Royal police discovered the girl with the man at the Super 8 in January, and prosecutors say he must now also register as a sex offender following his guilty plea in Beaufort County Court. 
• After stormwater work rollout, Beaufort projects chief suddenly resigns (islandpacket.com) — Port Royal residents may want to watch Beaufort’s big stormwater overhaul, as the city’s capital projects director has abruptly resigned just weeks into a $9.7 million downtown drainage project that’s already frustrated nearby businesses. City leaders say work on Charles, Craven and King streets will stay on schedule, with an interim director in place and a new assistant city manager expected soon.
