(heraldonline.com) — A Rock Hill traffic stop in 2024 has led to a 30‑year prison sentence for a repeat drug and gun offender under South Carolina’s mandatory minimum laws. Prosecutors say his record and the meth amount justified the maximum term, while his public defender argues the mandatory sentencing scheme is excessively harsh and more severe than some homicide penalties.
   

5. Indiana State Police K-9 Draco receives life-saving vest from national nonprofit (wthr.com) — A Rock Hill resident, Gail Nixon, helped protect an Indiana State Police K-9 by sponsoring a custom bullet- and stab-resistant vest in honor of a loved one. The national nonprofit Vested Interest in K9s has already donated thousands of similar vests across the country, funded by individual and corporate contributions. The program supports certified law-enforcement dogs whose work can put them in dangerous situations.
