Aerobics, Dancing, Movie in the Park and More

Here's a list of goings-on in Simpsonville to fill your week ahead.

It's Monday, and that means we've put together this list of things going on in Simpsonville Patch to help make your week a little brighter, easier and more fun.

1. Maria Tinti conducts a free aerobics class from 5-6:30 p.m. Mondays in Building 2 at the Center for Community Services, 1102 Howard Drive, Simpsonville. Contact Janine Sutter at 864-688-2246.

2. The Rosettes Line Dance Group teaches line dancing for people of any ability ages 50 and older. The group meets Mondays and Wednesdays at the Simpsonville Activity and Senior Center, 310 W. Curtis St., Simpsonville. Activities start at 10 a.m. Beginners start at 9 a.m. Call 864-967-9533.

3. The film “The Hobbit” will be shown at 9 p.m. Aug. 1 at Charter Amphitheatre at Heritage Park, 861 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Gates open at 7:30 p.m. Concessions and inflatable playgrounds will be available. No alcohol, please.

4. The Reedy Fork/Rocky Creek Community Fairground Park will host An Evening in the Park from 5-9 p.m. Aug. 2 at 931 S. Garrison Road, Simpsonville. Fish and hot dogs plates and sandwiches will be sold by the ladies of Reedy Fork Baptist Church, and there will be games of spades, Bid Whit, horseshoes, checkers, chess and bingo with prizes. Admission is free.

5. Children ages 6-11 are invited to participate in Camp Kaleidoscope through Aug. 9 at Bell’s Crossing Elementary School, 804 Scuffletown Road, Simpsonville. For details, call 864-288-6470 or visit greenvillerec.com.

6. The Iron Horse, a miniature train replica of an early vintage steam locomotive, is in operation from 10 a.m.-6 p.m. Saturdays and 1-6 p.m. Sundays at Heritage Park, 868 S.E. Main St., Simpsonville. Tickets are $2; children under 2 admitted free. Call 864-967-9533.

7. Discover Island Waterpark has resumed its summer schedule at Southside Park, 417 Baldwin Road, Simpsonville. Visit greenvillerec.com.
