GCSO Investigating Attempted Simpsonville Child Abduction

Alleged incident took place Wednesday in the Neely Farms subdivision.

The Greenville County Sheriff's Office is investigating an allegation by a young Simpsonville girl that an unidentified man tried to abduct her.

The alleged attempt took place Wednesday in the Neely Farms subdivision on Neely Farms Road at Wild Horse Creek Drive, WSPA reported.

According to the GCSO, a 12-year-old girl reported that a man drove up beside her as she was walking home from a friend's house and tried to make her get into his vehicle.

The girl reportedly told deputies that the man told her to get in the car and then tried to reach over and grab her from the passenger's side.

The girl managed to get away and ran toward her home; the suspect fled out of the neighborhood toward Harrison Bridge Road, the report said.

The man was described as a black male with a slight build and balding, gray hair. He was between 50-65 years old and was wearing a white hoodie. The GCSO said the man was reported to be driving a red Chevrolet Suburban-type vehicle with a Miami Dolphins decal on the back.

If anyone has any information about the incident or suspect they are asked to call Greenville County Crimestoppers at 23-CRIME, Crimestoppers at 1-888-CRIME-SC or their local law enforcement agency.
