Hedge Street in downtown Simpsonville remained closed Thursday afternoon after a semi truck knocked over a power pole, knocking out power to several areas of downtown.
A large box truck was exiting the SunTrust parking lot onto Hedge Street about 9:30 a.m. when it clipped something, possible a power line, resulting in two power poles being snapped.
Utility crews were on site putting up new poles and rehanging utility lines on the street, located behind City Hall and directly in front of the First Baptist Simpsonville administration building.
Utility workers said they hoped to be finished and the street reopened and power restored later Thursday.
