Police: Man Charged With Alleged Criminal Domestic Violence

Jason Mortimore charged with CDV of a high and aggravated nature.

A Simpsonville man remains in jail and charged with criminal domestic violence of a high and aggravated nature after an alleged incident earlier this week, Simpsonville Police said.

Jason Robert Mortimore, 31, was arrested on May 23 after an alleged physical altercation with his wife the previous day, an incident report said.

Simpsonville Police were originally called by a family member in response to harassing phone calls and violation of a no-contact order, the report said. After speaking with family members, police also learned that Mortimore had allegedly gotten abusive with his wife, at one point placing his hands around her neck and throat during an argument, the report said.

The victim alleged that Mortimore had called her demanding that she sell a TV set in order to pay for a place to stay, the report said. The report alleged Mortimore also grabbed the victim around her wrist and demanded she help him clean up the change in his car and that she refused to help, the report added.

Mortimore is alleged to have let go of the victim's wrist at the demand of a family member, only to get angry again and place both his hands around the victim's throat, the report said. A family member again demanded that Mortimore let go, which he ultimately did, and he left the incident location when told that his father had been called, the report said.

Family members told police Mortimore has called numerous times looking for money, and said that he had unspecified issues and was in need of help, more than anything, but that they no longer wanted any further contact or calls from him, the report said.

Following his May 23 arrest, Mortimore was booked in the county detention center where he remained without bond Sunday morning, according to jail records.
