Simpsonville Man Charged with Assault, Drug Violations
Girlfriend claims suspect struck her, incident report says.

A Simpsonville man is facing a handful of charges stemming from a run-in with his jealous girlfriend, a Simpsonville Police report said.
The female told police her live-in boyfriend struck at her after he received a phone call from another woman, the report said. The victim said that when she answered her boyfriend's phone, she heard a woman's voice and took the phone to the suspect. When she handed the phone to him, she said, "Here, it's your b....," the woman told police.
The alleged victim stated that the suspect asked her why she was answering his phone and invading his privacy, then allegedly stated to her that he ought to punch her in the face, the report said.
Th victim said the suspect then attempted to do just that, but that she was able to deflect the blow with her arm. She alleged the suspect then stood over her cursing and yelling at her before she was able to leave the apartment with her sister and contact police, the report said.
When three officers arrived at the couple's apartment later to question the suspect about the alleged assault, they also noticed a strong smell of burning marijuana inside the apartment, the report said.
In addition to a charge of criminal domestic violence, the suspect, 47-year-old Terry C. McGhee, also was charged with simple marijuana possession after a search of the apartment the suspect consented to yielded a small baggie of pot, the report said. McGhee was arrested and later released on a $3,500 bond.
