Simpsonville PD Warns of Concert Traffic Snarl

Show tonight with Black Keys, Flaming Lips at Charter Amphitheatre expected to draw a record-setting crowd.

After a Darius Rucker concert last month snarled traffic around Heritage Park, the Simpsonville Police Department is warning motorists that tonight's concert at the Charter Amphitheatre with the Black Keys and Flaming Lips is liable to cause more serious traffic delays.

"We are expecting a record-setting crowd at The Black Keys concert this Friday. Attendees are encouraged to carpool and arrive early," warned Simpsonville PD Capt. Jay Owens.

Motorists can expect delays in Simpsonville between 5 and 8 p.m. Traffic congestion can occur on SE Main Street, Fairview Road and Harrison Bridge Road. 

Officers will be stationed at Fairview Road and I-385, Fairview Road and SE Main Street, Harrison Bridge Road and I-385, and Harrison Bridge Road and SE Main Street, according to a police department advisory. 

"Other officers will be on patrol in the area. Friday night traffic on Fairview Road is normally heavy and with the added cars we can expect backups to occur. We ask for patience and as always drive safely," said Owens. 

Parking is $5, cash only, and the lot will open at 9 a.m. The ticket office at the Charter Amphitheatre will open at 10 a.m. Event gates open at 6 p.m., and the show begins at 7:30 p.m.
